About Fambled

Geoff and Steph are two divorced people with kids who are really into each other in a committed and devoted way and are, umm, sort-of cohabitating, you know, and yeah, also, kind of, umm, getting the kids together—a lot—in what feels sort-of like family-like situations.

Yeah.

We are good people, too. Really. We want to do the right thing. We are such good people we gave this kind of situation a name: Fambled—which describes any scrambled and brambled pseudo-familial arrangement like ours. “Step” seemed so Seventies, “Bonus” so Eighties, and “Blended” too evocative of margarita consumption, which is nothing like forging a new family from an existing one, but rather the exact opposite.

We don’t claim to be able to tell you what to do about your own fambled life. Hay-sus Christo, we are just trying to figure out how to do ours. It is some seriously complicated stuff.

The children, on the other hand, act like every day is a monkey pile of love.

So we got that going for us.

You can learn more about Geoff at his author website. (He wrote the novel, The Miracle Letters of T. Rimberg, and the forthcoming Young Adult novel, Stupid Fast). You can learn more about Steph at her author website. (She writes stories and reviews about families, travel, and books for magazines and newspapers and “the Internets.”) Geoff and Steph were in The Electric Arc Radio Show together, which was recorded live for podcast and heard on Minnesota Public Radio. Currently they co-write and co-host the radio variety show, PowderKeg Live!, which is loosely based on the antics and agony of friends and neighbors in their Minneapolis neighborhood.
